The video discusses three important things about SEO. Firstly, it emphasizes the importance of having high quality content that targets specific searches and meets the needs of searchers. Secondly, it highlights the significance of consistency in establishing oneself as an expert in a given field or topic. Finally, it mentions the importance of choosing the right website platform and utilizing its SEO settings. The video also mentions that while technical fixes are important, they have limited impact on search visibility without a solid content strategy. The content advises creating as much high quality content as possible and answers frequently asked questions to improve SEO. It concludes by stating that consistently showing up with valuable content is crucial for SEO success.
- All right, so there are three things
that I wish everyone knew about SEO.
The first, content is king.
If you think you're simply gonna add some magic code
to your website and start ranking,
it's probably not gonna happen.
SEO requires a solid content strategy
and that means creating high quality content
that targets a specific search
and meets the searcher's needs.
If you hire someone to do SEO
and all they're doing is fixing technical errors
on your website, just know that the impact of that
is going to be limited.
Sure, it might fix an error that would prevent you
from ranking, but it's probably not going to do much
to significantly increase search visibility,
which is the point of SEO.
Executing a content strategy
is what helps rank for more searches
and increases the visibility of your brand.
And really, there's no marketing without content,
but that's a topic for another video.
Two, if content is king, then consistency is queen.
Establish yourself as an expert in a given field
or a specific topic, it requires more than a single post.
Just think about it.
You probably don't go to a friend
who has run exactly one mile
in his entire life for fitness advice.
You go to your friends who live and breathe running
and have been consistently doing it for a long time.
So why would Google rank a page or post on your website
when you've written two blog posts
over the course of a year,
and one of them was a personal post?
Showing up consistently and repeatedly,
demonstrating that you're an expert in whatever you do,
builds trust with people.
And Google too.
Create as much high quality content as possible
around your discipline
and answer the questions people are asking about
whatever it is that you do.
Even if you don't know a thing about keyword
or content research, trusting your experience and intuition
by writing about the frequently asked questions you receive
can go a long way when it comes to SEO.
It will certainly get you further than if you never start.
And the great thing about SEO
is that it almost never goes to waste,
even if it doesn't end up getting you ranked as you hoped.
But the sad truth is, most people just won't develop
the habit of showing up consistently.
Three, this is the best website platform for SEO.
It's the modern website platform
that you feel comfortable updating,
that you feel comfortable using,
and you take advantage of the SEO settings
that they provide.
Sure, some website platforms give you more control
and are more optimizable than others,
but in this day and age,
it's usually not the website platform
that's keeping you from ranking.
See points one and two of this video
for the reasons that you're probably not ranking.
Find a website platform that you love, learn how to use it,
and keep your website maintained.
Our favorite website platforms are Showit and WordPress,
specifically the Elementor page builder
when using WordPress.
Showit offers a great balance between being easy to use
and creative control.
Either of those platforms and many others
have built-in SEO tools and documentation
to help you learn how to optimize your website.
But remember, those tools are worthless if you're not
first consistently creating high quality content.
